It was a crazy few weeks, designing the new Spring/Summer 2015 WAXEN collection, sampling the collection, taking it to be produced, celebrating Christmas, celebrating NEW YEARS, going to a wedding, and flying to America for my annual retreat, only to arrive home to the look book and campaign shoot, lookbook post production, and stock control.
Going into this shoot, I felt more comfortable than my first collection shoot, all my nerves had disappeared, and I knew I had a great team working with me, to turn my collection into something great.
Our team had almost doubled from 5 to 9, this time we had H/M by Charlie, Photography by Pierre, with two fantastic (RUDY SELL-OUT) assistants, Hayley Bonham, our talented Stylist, Mark Brightwell from Zodiac Media making video-magic, the beautiful Sophia Ram, my mother and myself.
The day went smoothly, and the shoot looked glossier than in a magazine. Because the collection had almost doubled in size from the pervious one, we ended up running into the early evening, trying to get all the looks shot before end of day.
Spirits were high, despite how exhausted everyone was, because we could all see in real-time how beautiful the shots were turning out.
WAXENs Fabrication is mostly linen and denim, with subtle hints of silk and leather. The collection is very different than anything I could have ever imagined; it has strong bold lines, loose cuts, delicate French seams, and a feminine air.
The collection is based around the SYDNEY-WOMAN, the girl who is effortlessly beautiful and comfortable in her own skin, it is for the woman who embraces summer afternoons with elegance. WAXEN is for the Australian Woman who is carefree, fun loving, and all things beautiful. This collection was designed with YOU in mind.
I hope you love the collection as much as I do.
